Lithium Batteries Multimodal – English 2021

Multimodal Transportation of Lithium Batteries (49 CFR, TDGR, ADR, IMDG, ICAO/IATA)

This course is intended for the training of hazmat employees responsible for the handling, shipping, or transportation of fully regulated and excepted lithium batteries by all modes using domestic and international regulations such as 49 CFR, TDGR, ADR, the IMDG Code and the IATA DGR. It also explains of the various types of battery technology in use today and has been designed to meet the function-specific training requirements of the regulations. It can be used for both initial and recurrent function-specific training.

The course meets the regulatory training standards set out in the IATA DGR (Section 1.5), as well as those in the 49 CFR (Part 172, Subpart H), for all dangerous goods employees involved in the safe transportation of dangerous goods and includes all recent amendments.

 

Learning Objective(s)

  • Navigating the “Lists of Dangerous Goods” and understanding the use of the appropriate packing instructions to determine the classification/identification, packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation requirements for safe the transportation of lithium batteries by all modes.

Este curso está destinado a la capacitación de los empleados de materiales peligrosos responsables del manejo, envío o transporte de baterías de litio totalmente reguladas y exceptuadas en todos los modos utilizando regulaciones nacionales e internacionales como 49 CFR, TDGR, ADR, el Código IMDG y la IATA DGR.  También explica los diversos tipos de tecnología de baterías que se utilizan en la actualidad y ha sido diseñado para cumplir con los requisitos de entrenamiento específicos de la función de las normativas. Se puede utilizar para entrenamiento específico de función tanto inicial como recurrente.

Safe and Compliant Transportation of Excepted Lithium Batteries by Ground and Air (49 CFR / ICAO/IATA) Training 2021

This course is intended for the training of hazmat employees responsible for the handling, shipping or transportation of excepted lithium batteries by ground (road or rail) and air, using 49 CFR and the IATA DGR, and explains of the various types of battery technology in use today. It has been designed to meet the function-specific training requirements of the regulations for excepted lithium batteries and can be used for initial and recurrent training.

Lithium battery types covered in this course include:

  • Small Ion – Not to exceed 20 Wh/cell, not to exceed 100 Wh/battery
  • Small Metal – Not to exceed 1 g lithium/cell, not to exceed 2 g lithium/battery
  • Medium Ion (ground only) – Not to exceed 60 Wh/cell, not to exceed 300 Wh/battery
  • Medium Metal (ground only) – Not to exceed 5 g lithium/cell, not to exceed 25 g lithium/battery

The course meets the regulatory training standards set out in 49 CFR, Part 172, Subpart H, for all employees involved in the safe transportation of lithium batteries by ground and includes all recent amendments and interpretations.
